Busy, busy, busy!

I always have good intentions of updating our blog more often. I just never seem to get it done! (sorry Stacey =P)

Silas is almost 18 months old now and changing every day it seems. He suddenly decided it's fun to walk.. and we are very happy about it! I really figured that's what would happen. This lil dude makes his own rules that's for sure!

Besides walking, he's entertaining us constantly with his expressions and antics. I love that he is full of smiles and giggles tho, he's such a happy little soul. He still loves music and will immediatly lay down on the floor if I turn the tv to a music channel. We have no idea why he does that but it's cute. He is enjoying his books more lately, especially if there is an animal in it. I read and he claps.. it's a fun time!

I wish I could record every minute of our day and cherish it forever. He just brings to much joy and life to this home!

His favorite word is still "dad dad dad dad dad dad..." and he's now started saying "hi dad" but will say "mom mom mom" when he's mad at daddy. lol His other favorite word is "eeeeeeee" and "unnngrryy" - in Silas language means EAT! He will also do his modified version of the sign for "eat" if we are not catching on. hehe. "nack"(snack) and "nigh nigh" are on our list too.

We've tried to hit the pool a few times but he's still unsure about all the hype. I'm glad he'll at least sit by the side and have fun splashing in the water!
to be cont..

...and I'm back to finish this finally (a week later!lol)
We had a fun time at Swan Lake yesterday, it was hot and buggy but fun seeing the animals. Silas loves to watch them but doesn't want to touch - as naughty as the animals are though, I'm ok with that! He loves to be outside but hates the grass. Really surprises me considering he loves to feel different textures.
He remains my ever cautious boy. Always looking, thinking and figuring out how things work. He watches and waits, then totally surprises me with what he does. Too smart for his own good somedays too:)

Good Bye Formula!

We will not miss you!

I washed the travel formula container for the last time and put it away with the "baby" things. Such a simple thing but made me a little sad too. Silas is turning into a big boy, and now that we found he needs lactose free milk, he's now totally weaned off of his toddler formula. My baby isn't a baby anymore! Now if we could just get rid of those last two bottles...

Little things are happening with him and it's so fun. I've been working with him for what seems like forever, trying to get him to clap. He always thought it was more fun to put his hands in the middle of mine while I clapped around them. Last night I was clapping and he was sitting on the floor in front of me, instead of putting his hands with mine, he put them up and started clapping too! I just couldn't be more excited! So it's a little thing but I love watching him learn new things:) He's also discovered clicking his tongue and realizing how to open and shut doors in the house. He still loves the vacuum and gets on the porch as often as he can to play with it. I was doing dishes (yeah, I do alot of dishes..) and didn't get the door all the way closed. He went out, played with the vacuum for about 10 minutes, came back in the kitchen and closed the door for me. Does this mean I won't have to yell at him 20 times a day when he's older to "Shut the door!" as he comes in and out of the house? Yeah... I didn't think so either. lol

I can't wait for more exciting changes coming our way! We finally got our family back down to two cars from the four we had. It feels so good! Our insurance has been cut by almost $75 a month now!

One of the major adventures we hope to take soon is a move to Carroll. I'm nervous to move to a smaller house but it's really forcing me to put our belongings into perspective. My goal for the next year (and years after that) is to focus of having less of us and more of God (thinking about starting a blog for that journey too.. lol) I keep reading articles about families downsizing and saying how much closer and happier they are. Not that we worship stuff or spend crazy amounts of money on fancy things.. just that we have so much stuff that is just here.. taking up space and making life chaotic. I'm excited about this step we are taking and hope we can be an example for others..
